Booking Through Thursday #1

Booking Through Thursday is a weekly meme hosted by Deb at Booking Through Thursday.

This weeks question is:

Do you skip ahead in a book? Do you feel bad about it when you do?

My Answer

Originally my answer would have been yes. But I now read books without skipping. The reason why I have changed is I would feel so guilty that I would have to go back and the read the book from the very beginning again, which meant that I was taking longer to finish books.

This question was inspired by an article published in the Guardian.

Hum... I think I would only feel guilty if it was a book I was supposed to be giving feedback on or some such. . .

I wouldn't feel too guilty if the book was very boring.

Um... yes and no for me. After trying not to skim, but not being willing to quit, either, skimming seems a better option. SINCE my purpose is to enjoy reading, of course. My BTT: http://burgandyice.blogspot.com/2012/01/booking-through-thursday.html

I never feel guilty about skipping, though I don't do it nearly as often as I used to. I always skip parts I know are boring in re-reads. In new books if I do skip it's usually only just a paragraph or two that end up being just descriptive.

Depending on the reason, that's about exactly why we feel guilty or not.
